Azithromycin Tablets: Azithromycin is an antibiotic that is prescribed to treat several types of bacterial infections like pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis, acne, infections of the ear, and sexually transmitted diseases. A bacterial infection is an illness caused by the growth of bacteria within the body.

Azithromycin includes azithromycin, which inhibits the growth or kills the offending bacteria at times by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins necessary for the existence of the bacteria. Azithromycin won’t cure a viral infection such as the flu or a cold.

Azithromycin must be taken only if suggested by your physician. It may be taken either before or after food intake, but must be taken at a regular time for optimal benefit. The Azithromycin must not be taken in a dosage greater than the advised one to prevent bad side effects. Moreover, the course must be followed even if you recover.

• Swallow the whole tablet with water.
• Do not break or chew this medicine.
• Use this medicine in the correct dosage as directed by your physician.

Storage:

Keep these medications in a dry and cool place. Do not make this medicine accessible to children and pets. Do not place this medicine in direct sunlight.

Dosage:

Take this medication in the right dosage and at the same time daily as advised by your doctor. Do not take a huge dose of this drug; otherwise, it will be harmful to your body.

Precautions:

• Do not miss any doses and complete the entire course of treatment even if you are feeling better. Stopping it too soon can cause the infection to return and more difficult to treat.
• Take it 1 hour prior to or 2 hours after food.
• Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after administration of Azithromycin.
• Diarrhea is a side effect and should cease when your treatment is finished. Tell your doctor if it doesn’t cease or if you notice blood in your stools.
• Discontinue Azithromycin and tell your doctor at once if you get a pruritic rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or have trouble breathing while taking the drug.
